Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is one of the most common infectious diseases encountered in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.  Additionally, it is a significant cause of both morbidity and mortality.  Clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of CAP were published in 2019, and in 2025, a focused update to these guidelines was released, which focused on four primary questions.  Healthcare providers must be familiar with both the 2019 and 2025 guidelines to provide the best treatment possible for patients while simultaneously providing appropriate antimicrobial stewardship
