2021 Oncology Drug Update

Presentation to update nurses, pharmacists and technicians on new oncology medication that we are using in the cancer center. This update will include administration and side effect management of these medications including dose modifications and important counseling and monitoring.

This program has been planned for Baptist Health employees. An access code will be required.  

Target Audience

This knowledge-based course is intended for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians with Baptist Health Systems. 

Learning Objectives

  • Identify new Oncology pharmacologic treatment options that have come to market in 2021.
  • Discuss indication, pharmacology, drug interactions, adverse effects and key patient counseling information for new oral Oncology pharmacologic treatments.
  • Discuss indication, pharmacology, adverse effects, administration, storage, vesicant properties, premedication recommendations, and key patient counseling information for new intravenous Oncology pharmacologic treatments.
  • Appraise the potential role in therapy of new Oncology pharmacologic treatments and their current status in treatment guidelines

Nicole Hansen is currently a Clinical Oncology Manager at Montgomery Cancer Center. She is Board Certified in Oncology. She has past experience at Duke Oncology Clinics and is an Oncology Content expert at Auburn.

Courtney Lambertsen is the Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation Coordinator at the Montgomery Cancer Center. She received her PharmD from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed a PGY-1 ASHP Accredited Residency at Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY. She is Board-certified in Pharmacotherapy. She is also certified in MTM and Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery. Prior to her time in Alabama, Dr. Lambertsen has held various clinical and staff positions in health system settings, long-term care, and ambulatory care.  She is a member of the Alabama Pharmacy Association and the Amercian Society of Health System's Pharmacy. Dr. Lambertsen is passionate about patient care and treatment related outcomes in Oncology patients. She has been married for 10 years to her husband, Lt. Col James Lambertsen, and is a mother of two children, Lucas and Larsen.
