This CE program will cover basics related to providing care to older adult patients and the rules and regulations surrounding care of patients in long-term care facilities. Long-term care facilities require a consultant pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care to patients residing in those facilities. In Alabama, the Board of Pharmacy requires licensure for consultant pharmacists. As a part of this initial licensure, pharmacists must complete an initial course and an accompanying exam for this licensure. This course will cover the basics required by ALBOP. After successful completion of the accompanying exam, pharmacist attendees will be eligible to apply for a consultant license from ALBOP.
Target Audience
This application-based program is intended for pharmacists and will provide 8 hours of continuing education over two days. This program has been approved by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy as a prerequisite course to apply for consultant pharmacist certification with the ALBOP.
