C.A.R.E.S. Online Video: Assisting Medicare Patients with Limited Income: What Do Pharmacists and Technicians Need to know?
This is a 3 hour C.A.R.E.S. online video training program about pharmacists assisting Medicare patients available for 3 CE credits. Instructions will be given within the course. Please click on the "Register" tab then the "Take Course" button.
After completion of the CE program, participants will receive certificates from Alabama Department of Senior Services (ADSS) to signify that they are Certified Aging Resource Educated Specialists (C.A.R.E.S.).
This online program is convenient to busy health care providers like pharmacists, as they can complete it at their own pace.
The C.A.R.E.S. continuing education programs are designed for Alabama pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to provide an overview of Medicare and the roles of the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) with the primary goal to help pharmacists and pharmacy staff effectively and efficiently assist Medicare beneficiaries. All of our CE programs are funded by the Alabama Department of Senior Services (ADSS) and are made available to community pharmacists in Alabama at no cost. The programs are developed by Dr. Salisa Westrick, Professor and Department Head of Health Outcomes Research and Policy in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Senior Services.
Three programs are currently available for CE credit:
C.A.R.E.S. Training (3 hour online video module CE)
The Basics of Medicare for Pharmacy Personnel (1 hour CE article)
Pharmacists' Role in Assisting Medicare Patients with Limited Income (1 hour CE article)
Assistance Programs Available for Older Adults (1 hour CE article)
If you are interested in learning more and/or joining the C.A.R.E.S. Pharmacy Network, you can complete the three ACPE approved one-credit-hour each CE articles or the three hour video training program (3 CE credits) that is available free online. After at least one full-time pharmacist from your pharmacy has completed the 3 CE credits training you can be enrolled in the C.A.R.E.S. Pharmacy Network at no cost and will receive a referral kit to help you identify and refer Medicare patients who may benefit from community programs to a local agency.
