Gas Station Drugs: Emerging Substances, Hidden Risks, and Community Impact
The sale of unregulated and often mislabeled substances—commonly referred to as “gas station drugs”—has expanded rapidly in convenience stores and vape shops. Marketed as legal alternatives or wellness products, these substances often contain psychoactive ingredients that pose significant risks to physical and mental health. This webinar will examine the evolving landscape of gas station drugs, including kratom, delta‑8 and delta- 9 products, and other emerging substances. Participants will learn how these products are marketed, how they are used, and why they present unique challenges for clinicians, educators, and communities. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing signs of misuse, understanding legal and regulatory gaps, and identifying effective prevention and intervention strategies.
