Through demonstration and application exercises, this program will provide the information and resources needed to implement diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention and management services within the community pharmacy setting.

Supported by a grant provided by the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Target Audience

This experience-based course is intended for Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technicians. 

Learning Objectives

  1. Review the current guideline recommendations for diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention and management
  2. Apply guideline recommendations to patient-specific situations
  3. Discuss opportunities for providing services and service reimbursement for diabetes and cardiovascular disease-related services in the community pharmacy setting
  4. Develop a business plan for the implementation of diabetes and cardiovascular disease-related services
  5. Accurately complete and assess the results of provide point-of-care tests including:
    1. A1C
    2. Blood glucose
    3. Lipid panel
