Lea S. Eiland, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCPPS, FASHP, FPPA Dr. Lea Eiland is a Hill Crest Clinical Professor and Associate Department Head of Pharmacy Practice at Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy. Dr. Eiland received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas at Austin and completed a pediatric specialty residency at Texas Tech University. She joined the Auburn faculty in 2002 and is a board-certified pharmacotherapy and pediatric pharmacy specialist who has practiced in the general pediatric inpatient setting, pediatric ICU, and various pediatric clinics. Dr. Eiland is an active ASHP, PPA, ACCP, and AACP member. She is currently a member of the PPA Board of Directors. She is a past member of the ASHP Board of Directors and past President of the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Her career focuses on pharmacy education, pediatric clinical practice, professional organizational service, research/scholarship, mentorship, and leadership.

Kristi W. Kelley, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, BCACP, CDE, BC-ADM is a Clinical Professor at the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. Dr. Kelley earned both her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (1999) and Doctor of Pharmacy (2000) degrees at the Harrison School of Pharmacy. She completed an ASHP-accredited Primary Care Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2001.

In addition to teaching in her clinical practice, Dr. Kelley is also involved in didactic teaching, service, and scholarship within the School.  Complementing her practice and research interests is Dr. Kelley’s involvement in professional associations, such as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Alabama chapter of ASHP (ALSHP), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), serving on a variety of committees and holding leadership roles.

While on faculty at Auburn, Dr. Kelley has been honored to receive the Hargreaves Faculty Mentor Award, Roche's Preceptor of the Year, and be recognized as a Preceptor of Excellence four times. Dr. Kelley was part of a three-member team that received the school's inaugural Excellence in Teaching award and were also recognized as the school's representatives at the 2014 AACP Annual Meeting as a "Teacher of the Year." In 2018, Dr. Kelley was again awarded HSOP's Excellence in Teaching award. In 2016, Dr. Kelley was the recipient of ACCP's Education Award.

Dr. Kelley’s scholarship interests include diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and pharmacy education. She has published and presented on these topics at both the regional and national level.  In addition, she has served as invited faculty for ASHP recertification programs and ACCP’s Teaching and Learning Academy/Certificate Program.

Erika L. Kleppinger, Pharm.D., BCPS is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Since joining the faculty at the Harrison School of Pharmacy in 2003, she has practiced in several ambulatory care practice settings, coordinated and taught in a variety of skills laboratory activities, and worked passionately on curriculum development and revision.

Dr. Kleppinger graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 2001 with a doctor of pharmacy degree. After graduation, she completed two years of post-graduate residency training – a Pharmacy Practice residency at Temple University Hospital and a Primary Care specialty residency at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in association with the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. In 2003, Dr. Kleppinger became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and from 2006-2016 she was a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).

During the first seven years after joining the faculty of HSOP, Dr. Kleppinger practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS), managing patients with diabetes and lipid abnormalities. Additionally she practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist in the Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care Center (AUPCC) for two years assisting with wellness screenings and medication management education.

Currently Dr. Kleppinger dedicates most of her time to skills activity coordination and assessment with Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs) and other performance-based assessments. She teaches in many areas of the Practice-Ready Curriculum, including patient assessment skills, communication skills (specifically assessing patient understanding and new prescription counseling), the pharmacists’ patient care process, self-care, dermatology, cough and cold management, and immunization certification training. She also serves as a Skills Coordinator and a Learning Experience Coordinator for the first professional year of the PharmD program.
