The C.A.R.E.S. continuing education programs are designed for Alabama pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to provide an overview of Medicare and the roles of the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) with the primary goal to help pharmacists and pharmacy staff effectively and efficiently assist Medicare beneficiaries. All of our CE programs are funded by the Alabama Department of Senior Services (ADSS) and the U.S. Administration for Community Living. They are made available to pharmacists and technicians in Alabama at no cost.

This preceptor development program was developed to educate and assist preceptors with effective precepting techniques, understanding statues and rules for preceptors in the state of AL, inclusive excellence information relating to precepting, and dealing with the disengaged/unmotivated student. Engaging material will include interactive lectures, real-world examples, and a panel discussion.This program has been approved by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy for continuing education credit to meet Preceptor licensure requirements.

This presentation will review the ALBOP rules regarding precepting externs/interns in the state of Alabama as well as the college's requirements and expectations of preceptors. Preceptors in Alabama have specific training requirements for the ALBOP which this program meets for initial training and renewal which is required every 2 years. This course is also approved by the ALBOP for its required preceptor training.
