This knowledge-based program is intended for Pharmacists, Nurses, and Social Workers.
- Identify diagnostic criteria and clinical features of bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder
- Review treatment for bipolar disorder and evaluate evidence-based data regarding treatment of borderline personality disorder
- Describe potential ethical dilemmas in working with borderline personality disorder patients
- Compare and contrast similarities and differences between the diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder
Researchers and clinicians differ on the distinctiveness of bipolar disorder (BPAD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD) and there is concern about misdiagnosis due to symptom overlap despite general agreement that BPAD and BPD are distinct diagnostic entities. Treatment for these two disorders differ dramatically, and misdiagnosis can lead to struggles to treat BPD appropriately.
